GPWS stands for Ground Proximity Warning System. It is a system designed to warn pilots if the aircraft is flying to the ground or dangerously. It is a system that warns the pilots with audible and visual warnings.
GPWS is mandatory for all civil aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 5700 kg and above.
